Jan'21 report

Briefly

The game is ready approximately at 94%

More detailed

Perhaps the most important thing that we have learned over the past months of silence is that the old system of reporting and planning with percents works very poorly. It did not take into account any changes or an increase in the amount of work (which is impossible to predict in advance). For the first few months, it helped us a lot - after all, both we and you saw that the work was going on!

But...

With each passing month, things that we hadn't considered from the very beginning accumulated. We ignored them, doing something that clearly increased the percentage. And so we fell into a trap.

According to the percentage, it seemed that the game was already done, there was just a little bit left… But the effort stretched on endlessly.

The work that the percentages did not take into account became too much and we could not ignore it. And switching to this work, we didn't increase the percentage of the game's readiness and this very demotivated us. After all, we continued to work not less than before. And it was getting harder and harder for us to show you these pathetic monthly percentages.

We took a timeout and realized that the system was not perfect and only confused us. We thought about it and found a more reasonable planning system, but, unfortunately, it is too late to apply it to this project.

For all these reasons, the previous type of report has sunk into oblivion, as well as our demotivation.

We'll just say what we did this month and announce what we want to do next. Fewer numbers, more words.

After all noone reads the reports anyway, right? :D

What was done

  1. We worked hard on the code
  2. We wrote 8 new music tracks
  3. Made a teaser
  4. Redrawn and refined a lot of sprites and CGs
  5. We inserted the visual part in the first part of the game (the first 4 chapters)
  6. We worked on the visual effects
  7. Actively translated and proofread the text

What we plan in February

  1. To modify the 10 CGs, start to draw a couple more
  2. Update the visual in the part of Vincent's route
  3. Start internal testing
  4. Work with visual effects
  5. Start translating Loner route and continue proofing Cassel's route
  6. And also please our wonderful readers with posts about sprite changes :3

Wish us luck!

I do like to read your reports and I appreciate that you're posting them.

In my opinion, it gives me confidence that the team is reaching milestones and despite any step backs you might encounter, you're still getting experience and evolving for the better.

The team accomplishments are not based in luck but in hard work, so from me, there is only two things I can wish for you: good work and health.

I'll be looking forward to reading all reports until release.

Thank you :3

You have a very healthy understanding of the development process! This helps us a lot!
